DEcadance on the piano

How do we compose dances? Does it always have to a traditional waltz, a Polka or could we also take a contemporary dance choreography to inspire us musically? This is what I did with my piece Decadence - I transcribed the choreography by Ohad Naharin which you can see below, notating every single movement the dancers made, categorizing it in little pockets of 8 counts, honoring the dancers way of counting. Creating the score I allowed myself to only use these pockets of rhythms, reorganizing the order, using some pockets multiple times and others just once to create a solo piano piece. The sound is not based on a specific key, I created my own random scales, improvised and utilized chords and clouds of sound that I found interesting, resulting in the following piece:
